No rest for the ???

Just a quick reminder that rehearsals start again on Wednesday 28th at 6:45pm; really looking forward to seeing you all again.

The plan is to start with a bit of an overview of your current repertoire for the September gigs (15th-Cymanfa Ganu, 22nd-Bodelwyddan wedding); if there are any songs you think need a proper look at, please let me know (I've already had a couple of requests for the Tenor parts of Rachie...)

The bride has asked for the following for the wedding, so please make sure you've got your copies of: The Rose, Love Changes Everything, Calon Lan, and You Raise Me Up.  We'll also be singing for about fifteen minutes before the service, rep to be confirmed.

Also, if you've got any burning desires to sing any particular pieces, new or otherwise, please let me know.  I have some cunning plans, but would be glad of your input too.

Thanks all,

Helena.

Goodbye and Hello

The Choir is  sorry to have to say goodbye to Ruth Evans, our MD, who is sadly leaving us due to new work commitments with Welsh National Opera.  We are very grateful to Ruth for the astounding contribution she has made to the choir and we say "Go raibh míle míle maith agat" - diolch o galon.

Ruth was presented with a commemorative plaque at her last concert with the choir which took place in Kelso, Scotland where the  Choir were performing at the Civil Week Festival.

We are however delighted to announce the appointment of Helena Thomas as our new MD.
Helena will take up the baton when the choir returns from the summer break on
Wed. 28th August. We are looking forward to her youthful and dynamic leadership. Full details are available of the choir's main webpages at:- www.corcaerwys.co.uk

We're Back

Had the Christmas Ague?

Here's some of Doctor Andrew's tips to get rid of the claggy throat gremlins and get yourself ready for

a return to singing this Wednesday at 6.30

1. Try a glass of Whiskey - or
Clear your throat without contracting your throat area. Coughing and overusing the throat can create wear and tear on the vocal chords. The following method will protect your voice.
Sharply sniff, then swallow. Repeat if necessary.

2  Try another glass of whiskey - or
Drink lemon juice in water without ice. Squeeze a quarter of a lemon into a tall glass of water. Sip this slowly for 25 to 30 minutes. Lemon water is helpful for cutting through clag.

3. Try another glass of whiskey - or
Dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese create more clag in the throat and nasal passages.
Cutting back significantly, should decrease the amount of stuff in your throat and reduce the necessity for throat clearing.

If all else fails, I find a glass of Tullamore Dew helps.
